STC boys cruise past Meskwaki in nonconference tilt
The South Tama boys had no trouble taking care of business on the road against nonconference rival Meskwaki on Monday night, securing an early lead and coasting to a 63-29 victory to pick up their second win of the season.
The Trojans (2-10) took a commanding lead against the winless Warriors (0-12) in the second quarter, stretching the advantage to 15 at 25-10 after an Ivan Alvarado three-pointer. They carried a 35-12 lead into the locker room and played their reserves for the majority of the second half.
South Tama enjoyed a balanced scoring attack, and Kingston Davenport led the way with 10 points. Daniel Wiese added nine, and Cade Rosenberger eight for the Trojans. Tenoch Snow was the leading scorer for Meskwaki with 15 points, and despite the lopsided loss, the Warriors registered their second-highest point total of the 2022-2023 season thus far.
The Trojans were back in action against Clear Creek-Amana at home Tuesday, and they face Benton on the road Friday night. Meskwaki had a pair of road dates with conference foes next up on the schedule, with Colo-NESCO Tuesday night and Collins-Maxwell on Friday.
