The STC Trojans girls frosh and varsity basketball teams returned to their home court for the first time since before the winter break. The Trojans hosted Clear Creek-Amana (8-3) for a WaMaC Conference contest on Monday, January 13. The game was originally scheduled for Friday, January 10 but winter weather forced a delay.

The competition the Trojans face in the WaMaC west conference continues to be a struggle for a team that does not have height or varsity experience coming into the season.

Clear Creek-Amana gained a healthy 29-2 lead in the first quarter. By half the Clippers were ahead 46-8. Coming out of half time the 35 point rule was enabled and a continuous clock ran for the remainder of the evening.

The Trojans were able to nearly double their offensive efforts in the second half. Sophomore Kailee Meek led with eight points. She was 3-12 from the field, hitting one three point shot and one free throw. She also tied in rebounds along with Shelby Slaven. They each had four a piece.

The Trojans have a particularly grueling schedule this week and into next week with three games each week. The Trojans will be on the road Friday evening to Williamsburg barring any potential winter weather.

Next week they are scheduled to play the Class 2A Grundy Center Spartans (8-2) at Grundy Center in a VGB/VBB double-header on Monday. Tuesday they will be at home to host conference opponent Vinton-Shellsburg (7-4) and Friday they will also be at home to host Class 4A 3rd ranked Center Point-Urbana (9-0).
