Toledo Mayor reflects upon season
Letter to the Editor:
Well, here we are again going into December, and wondering where did the year go. It seems like just a few days ago the public works were fixing water leaks all around the city. People were complaining about the cold weather. Then people started mowing grass and soon forgot about the cold. Gardens were being put in and we were all off and running. Then the rainy spell hit, and the grass really grew, and didn’t quit until sometime in mid October. The lawn mowers really got a good workout this past summer.
It seemed like the farmers started planting corn early enough, and the next you know seed companies were talking detasseling. By the time detasseling was done, harvest was being talked about.
I promised myself last winter that I was going to do some golfing this past summer. I think that promise will be broken, even though there still are a few days left of this year. But I don’t think golfing is going to happen. Oh well, there’s always next year.
Since winter is upon us, I hope people abide by snow route rules. Our Police Dept. doesn’t exactly thrive on having to tow cars on a cold and snowy night.
As in other years, a great big THANK YOU to the Toledo Fire and EMS who once again volunteered to put up the city Christmas decorations. I realize that they have done this for several years, but anyone is more than welcome to assist in any capacity they can. We are still lucky that we have what we do, even though it’s a struggle to try to keep everything up the best we can with what we have. That’s why we need communities to pull together now more than ever.
It has been a pleasure working for the good of the city. Some days things get a little frustrating, but in the end they seem to work themselves out. Hopefully 2015 will be more to our liking!
In closing, I would like to say to everyone, have a Merry and Blessed Christmas, and a Joyous and Happy New Year. Life is short. Enjoy it to the fullest. Smile a lot!!!!
Dave Svoboda,
Toledo Mayor
