The upcoming primary election is set for Tuesday June 2 and as a former elected official of Tama County I know how important it is to get out and vote and what a difference it can make in keeping our county running efficiently. One person who has been doing that for the last 4+ years as our County Treasurer is Amanda Kriegel. She was appointed to the position in 2022 and later that year was elected to that position. She has an accounting degree and has worked in financial positions for the last 15 years including at the Iowa Veterans Home and in Poweshiek County. Proving that she has a lot of government accounting knowledge and expetrience. In her time here she has managed the county tax money very efficiently increasing interest income on county funds from $563,213 for the four years before she was in office to $1,898,052 in the first four years of her time in the office. This offsets property taxes to taxpayers in property taxes quite a bit. I think this proves she has been doing a great job and will continue to do so. She oversees a staff of five in an office that does various things including tax collection and distribution, investing, vehicle licensing, drivers licensing and she has become proficient in all of these tasks. She is willing to learn and try new ways of doing things in her office to keep up with new technology that comes out. She has good working relationships with all the departments in the County Administration Building which is key in making the County work for all of its residents. She grew up in Tama County and raised her family here. She is truly invested in this community. As someone who has worked directly with her, I respect her and know that she will continue to help Tama County grow and thrive. So please re-elect Amanda Kriegel as County Treasurer.
