Recently graduated STC Senior Andrea Padilla ended her soccer career by representing STC at the Iowa High School Soccer Coaches Association Senior Showcase. Padilla was nominated by Coach Morgan McFate.

The game is played immediately prior to a Des Moines Menace home game at Valley Stadium, with player recognition during halftime of the following game. This year due to weather the game was played indoors at RecPlex.

In the all star game East is pitted against West with STC fitting in the East division. This year Padilla and the East team fell 3-1 to the West team.

Padilla was honored and surprised to be selected.

“I was super surprised to be nominated by my coach and selected to participate in the all-star game. It is truly an honor to be recognized for all the hard work and dedication to the sport. I was looking forward to showcasing my skills and representing South Tama and my team.”

After the game Padilla reflected back with fond memories despite the adversity on the field.

“The game on Saturday was really enjoyable to play. It was a bit tough because we were all unfamiliar with each other; the only thing we knew about each other was that we usually competed against each other. Despite this, we came together as a team, communicated effectively, played with great determination, and put on a great performance. It was a valuable experience in teamwork and sportsmanship.”

Padilla wraps up an incredible STC soccer career with her participation in the game.
