After a full week of cancelled cross country meets due to heat and flooding, Trojan runners were finally able to get back onto the course on Monday, Sept. 14. Competing in their annual home Co-Ed Meet, the STC boys ran to a second place finish as a team.

The Trojans were led by sophomore Max Schirmer, who finished in 3rd place with a season-best time of 18:27. Schirmer had two teammates who joined him with a top-15 finish: junior Henri Martinez-Alvarado (9th, 19:37 — personal best) and sophomore Kyler Johnson-Whitefish (12th, 19:44 — personal best). Other STC finishers included: sophomore Nolan Arp (27th, 21:51), sophomore Riley Stubbs (22:28), junior Jonathan Lambert (23:02), and senior Lane Feisel (25:16). The effort earned the Trojans the runner-up finish as a team, with 75 points. Grinnell won the meet with a total of 35 points. The team finish was even more impressive considering the Trojans were without one of their top runners due to injury: junior Brady Jesina.

The STC girls had three 8th grade students competing in their first race of the year. 8th grader Adalyn Graff (27:28) led the girls with a 36th place finish. She was joined by: senior Livia Smith (27:58 — season best), freshman Katelynne Brant (28:02 — personal best), 8th grader Piper Sawyer (28:12), and 8th grader Anna Ahrens (28:21).

Head coach Edgar Tapia and the Trojans will travel to Story City on Thursday, Sept. 24, to compete at the Norsemen XC Invite. This will be followed by a trip to Williamsburg on Tuesday, Sept. 29, for the Williamsburg XC Invite.
