The South Tama County Music Department will present a virtual live show starting Thursday evening. The variety show is called “Nights on Harding Street.” It will be live streamed on Nov. 12, 13 and 14 at 7 p.m.

The student performers have been practicing with masks, social distancing and a lot of hand sanitizing.

Last December, Director Chris McFate decided that the fall production would be a variety show due to the pandemic.

Typically, variety shows are chosen because they are less expensive and are used to raise funds for a musical the following year. Even if a school could get the performance rights to produce a musical virtually, the sheer logistics of actually doing the show virtually would be an almost impossible challenge for most high schools.

McFate is working with onthestage.com to live stream the show as well as sell online tickets for the virtual performances. Tickets for the online performances will be $22.39 total, $20.00for STC’s fee and $2.39 for On The Stage and the credit card charges. Families will be able to enjoy the show safely in their own home and save money as well.

A limited number of reservation tickets will be sold at the high school for people who do not have access to the internet. In person tickets will be $10.00. Please contact the STC High School for more information on in person tickets.

In the event the cast has to stop rehearsing in person, practices will continue online in a virtual platform.

“In this time of a pandemic, creativity and an element of where there is a will; there is a way,” McFate said.

Director Chris McFate, her performers and techies have been working diligently to bring a quality show to the community.

“I hope that many people will take advantage of this different but safe way of being entertained by the talented students at STC,” McFate said.
