South Tama Homecoming 2015 Week starts Sunday

South Tama Homecoming week officially kicks off on Sunday, September 27. The theme for this year is “Rip Up Roland-Story.”
Sunday
Kick-Off Activities
Activities beginning on Sunday include a student powder puff volleyball game at 2 p.m. followed by a student powder puff football game beginning at about 3:30 p.m.
To finish out Sunday’s activities a community STC Pride 5K run / walk will be held. The race will begin and end in the STC elementary parking lot and is the same route as the Lincoln Highway Bridge 5K.
The entry fee is a non-perishable food item for the food pantry, a monetary donation to the Humane Society or STC REC Trail, or a pet supply item (dog food, cat litter, etc) for the Humane Society.
Participants are encouraged to come decked out in STC gear.
Registration begins at 4 p.m. with awards to follow the race.
Awards and divisions include: 18+ top finisher, 17 and below top finisher, best dressed individual, and best-dressed group.

Junior After Prom parents will be selling meals for $5 as a tailgating dinner.
The STC High School Leadership class planned all Sunday’s events. Community members are invited and encouraged to attend the day’s festivities.
Float Construction
Mondaythrough Wednesday evenings (Oct. 28 -30) will be dedicated for groups to work on homecoming parade float construction.
Parade Route –
Coronation
The annual parade will be on Thursday, Oct. 1, at 6:30 p.m. followed by the coronation ceremony at 7 p.m. at the high school.
The route will be from Business Highway 30 West in Toledo, eastward to South Broadway, south on Broadway to McClellan and 17th streets in Tama and west on 17th Street to the high school.
A bonfire will be held immediately following the coronation.
Football
The Trojans will play Roland-Story on Friday evening starting with freshman at 5 p.m. followed by the varsity on Trojan Field in Toledo.
The week caps off with a high school dance on Saturday, Oct. 3, from 8 -11 p.m. at the high school.
Dress Up days at the schools are a popular way to partake in the daily festivities of Homecoming week.
Elementary Dress Up Days are: Monday – Silly Mismatch Day, Tuesday – USA Red, White and Blue Day, Wednesday – Farmer Day, Thursday – Ladies and Gentleman (Nicest Outfit) and Friday – Trojan Spirit Day. High School Dress Up Days are: Monday-Tourist Day, Tuesday-Squad Day, Wednesday-Camo vs. Bling Day, Thursday-Throwback Thursday, and Friday (as always)-Spirit Day.
