South Tama Project Prom gears up for a successful 2015 After Prom

The South Tama High School After Prom planning committee is in full swing working to provide a safe fun evening for South Tama High School juniors and seniors. As in the past, the event will occur after the high school prom dance on April 18 and is a substance free, chaperoned event for our youth.

This year will be the 30th anniversary of this successful event. It is made possible entirely through the tremendous support of community volunteers and generous donations provided by parents, community members, and many local and surrounding businesses.

The planning committee has been busy fundraising through various activities and measures.

So far this year, the group has sold DQ blizzards and fresh baked cookies at winter high school sporting events. Additionally, they have sold raffle tickets for two Iowa State basketballs. The first was signed by the entire ISU women’s basketball team including STC alum Madison Baier.

The winner of the ball, Dan Stubbs, was announced at the STC varsity girls’ game on Friday, Jan. 23.

The second ball is signed by the entire men’s ISU basketball team including Coach Fred Hoiberg. Raffle tickets are still available for the men’s ball.

They can be purchased at the STC boys’ basketball game on Tuesday, Feb. 10. The winner will be announced at half time of the varsity game. Tickets are being sold for $2 each or 3 for $5 and you need not be present to win.

The committee is working hard to meet fundraising goals and provide a memorable evening for our high school students. Money raised will be used to fund games, activities, entertainment, food, and prizes for the South Tama students in attendance.

If you are interested in supporting this worthwhile event, donations of any amount can be sent to: Project Prom, Attn: Mike Thede, 407 E. Vine St., Toledo, IA 52342 or call 481-3772.

The STC After Prom committee and STC High School students truly appreciate your support, past and present, of this outstanding event for our youth.
