Rube’s Meat Company announces summer kickoff

Rube’s Meat Company in Montour has announced their upcoming Summer Kickoff Open House. The Meat Company just completed a major renovation and is opening its doors for you to see, smell and taste what’s inside!

Everyone is welcome Saturday, May 30, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. to celebrate the summer cookout season.

The Summer Kickoff will feature our premium meats and several new cuts that are perfect for summer grilling. Many of these will be offered at one-day sale prices or in summer cookout bundles.

Rube’s will also celebrate the launch of several locally-made products at Rube’s Meat Company. The recently renovated retail area features other outstanding Iowa-made products that complement our meat.

The company now carries a selection of Maytag cheeses from Newton, summer sausages and beef sticks from Kramer Sausage Company in La Porte City and products from the Amanas such as horseradish – an excellent accompaniment to Rube’s prime rib. Another new-to-us product line will be Ah-Jeez mixes. Produced in Knoxville, Ah-Jeez products include mixes such as Pepper Jack Beer Bread, Bacon-Maple Dip and Creamy Coleslaw Mix. The knowledgeable staff will be on hand offering taste samples and to suggest some yummy pairings.

Rube’s will also feature coffees from Ross Street Roasting Company, which hand-roasts their coffee beans in nearby Toledo. Ross Street Roasting Company specializes in high-quality, ethically-sourced coffee. This small company is rapidly gaining new fans, and we are pleased to be stocking their coffee in our store.

Every great cookout includes a decadent dessert. Scratch Curbside will be selling their crave-worthy cupcakes just outside the Meat Company from 11-2.

Rube’s Meat Company will also be grilling steakburgers to sample during the Summer Kickoff celebration. Everyone is invited to stop in, taste a sample and stock up on delicious Rube’s meat for their summer cookouts!

Rube’s Meat Company is located at 200 Elm St., Montour.

Regular retail hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and Saturdays 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Special orders are encouraged and 24-hours notice is appreciated.
