Just Jonathan: Patterns

Jonathan Meyer.

When you do something enough times, you’ll start to notice patterns. Over my few years with the paper, I’ve come to understand some of my quirks. In keeping with the theme of elections, I’ll humor you with some of my patterns and quirks.

To start with, I’m never in Tama County to start the day. If it’s a Primary election, I’m usually working in Cedar Rapids. If we’re talking November, I start at Wartburg in Waverly. Don’t get me started on Tuesday’s, my busiest day of the week!

After taking care of all my academic or work needs on Election Day, I then do an afternoon running workout–because that’s the day our team habitually does workouts!

Now I shouldn’t be admitting this in writing but usually after the running portion of our workout I sneak into the background and head to take a shower quickly, this is a necessity! No one likes doing core exercises anyways…

Next is the hour and fifteen minute drive to Tama, while listening to election results start to roll in on the radio. The key here is returning to Tama before the polls close so I can still vote. I usually accomplish that task by around 7:30pm.

What comes next is the whirlwind of the night. A combination of scarfing food and sitting with my parents for twenty to thirty minutes before heading out to the auditors office.

With those few hours of fun at the auditors office, I am then tasked with writing about said results. Somewhere in there I sleep and drive back to Waverly for meetings in the morning.

Safe to say, I’ll continue hustling if you continue reading.

Although I’m scattered, I’m Just Jonathan!
