Does anyone remember Dr. Max & his “Important Book” he would send to us kids way back in the late 50’s & early 60s? Probably not, huh?

But I needed some kind of title for today’s column and that’s the best this old cranium could do. So here are my “notes.”

Kudos to the Independence Snow Removal crew. You guys do an amazing job in clearing the streets year in and year out. Can’t believe the hours you must work during the big snowfalls. It doesn’t go unnoticed.

Super Bowl LVIII, (53), for those of us who don’t speak Roman. This coming Sunday evening, Taylor Swift’s Kansas City Chiefs will meet up against the 49-er’s from San Francisco in Las Vegas. I read somewhere that Miss Swift’s suite at the game comes at a price tag of around 3 million dollars. Wonder if she can afford it? I have no idea what all the commotion about her is, but here I am, talking about her as well. Geesh! If you’re a gambling person, here’s the results of Super Bowl LVIII PRIOR to the game. The Chiefs are behind 23 to 29 with 2 and a half minutes, on their own 35 yard line. How’s that for intricate information….before the game is even played!! Continuing on, Patrick Mahomes will lead his charge down the field, scrambling to and fro from time to time, completing several passes to Swift’s boy, Travis Kelce, and score a final touchdown with 31 seconds left in the game and the score now is 30-29 in favor of the Chiers. Chiefs win a nail biter! Of course. As Baretta used to say, “And you can take that to the bank.”

Next in my Important Book is the Superstar “Phenom” known as Caitlin Clark. Do you remember about 20 years ago or so when Kevin Coster was asked if this was heaven and he replied, “No, it’s Iowa.” The Field of Dreams is one of those iconic movies that everyone talks about and watches every time it comes on the TV. Well, Caitlin Clark has once again put the state of Iowa back on the map, even more then Costner or the Iowa caucus. This athlete is simply amazing and pretty much in the “superstar status.” She’s breaking records all over the place and just recently became the all-time women’s leading scorer in the Big Ten. And in perhaps a couple of games from now, Caithlin Clark should become the nation’s all-time leading scorer in NCAA Women’s Basketball. Because of her, every place she plays is to “sold-out” arenas which are in turn setting records all across the country. Now if only she could play a game or two on the men’s basketball team!!!

Finally, Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. Guys, I’m here to help you and keep you out of the dog house. DON’T FORGET FEBRUARY 14 IS VALENTINE’S DAY! Get your wife or girlfriend something nice like a special date night, beautiful flowers, some chocolate candies, or all three!! If she’s trying to cut down on the calories a bit, (don’t mention that of course), buy her dark chocolate candy. You cannot go wrong with that. This special day may not be all that important to us but it just might be to her. It’s kinda like Super Bowl LVIII is to us. Very important! You’ll Figure It Out……I hope!
