Market Report for May 11, 2018

It was a chilly, drizzly kind of night for the Toledo Farmers’ Market. Tonight was the night for the annual Mothers’ Day flower planting. Thanks to all the kids that came out and planted a flower for their mother. Thanks to the vendors who was busy getting their products ready for market. And a BIG Thank you to the customers that came out and made their delicious purchases.

Kristi had her table full of her Czech bakeries, rolls, pies, crisps, bars, cookies, and asparagus.

Michael and Shirley brought their famous Czech bakeries, and noodles.

Chuck and Ginger brought Gingers bakery, popcorn, nutmeats, honey, winter squash, rhubarb, and eggs.

Dawn had plenty of jams, dried herbs, house plants, rhubarb, asparagus, green onions, soup mixes, and noodles.

Sheryl had all her ceramics lined up, along with her scrubbies, potholders, towel sets, microwave bowl hot pads, dish clothes, mug and people aprons, blanket pets, adult clothing protectors, and cell phone wallets.

Scenic Co. brought all their reclaimed wood. Gabe told me that their small part time business is reclaiming wood from down trees on their property. They saw them up for use in rustic dcor or woodworking. They enjoy bringing new appeal to wood that otherwise would decompose. Some of the varieties of wood they work with are black walnut, oak, elm, and maple. Be sure to stop by their table and welcome them to the Toledo Farmers’ Market.

Janet came back with plenty of eggs, pumpkin, banana, and zucchini breads, along with caramel pecan rolls.

Joe and Barb made it back to the market. They brought asparagus, small pies, loaves of yeast breads, granola, crisp, and pens. Let me tell you the bread was so yummy. here is nothing better than a slice of homemade bread with lots of butter, well maybe the slice of peach pie I also purchased.

Bill and Gail from the Bunny Farm came back this year. They have been busy with heirloom tomato and pepper plants, wild flower plants, flower plants; they also had a bag of hickory nuts, jams, and onions. Gail was busy baking pies, breads, gluten free brownies, cookies and cupcakes.

At the end of market was Flower and Bird Bath plate art. You must stop by and see the beautiful work that is done by Julie. She told me she waits to find that one special piece of china for her art work I have a picture of her work on our face book page.
