John’s Top Ten Christmas Movies!

Too early for Christmas stuff? Nope. When you get this column, it will be December and that makes it officially “Christmas Season.” I love this time of the year. Love the festive lights all over, the smiles on people’s faces, the good cheer and, of course, looking for that right gift for that special someone. But enough of that, this column is all about Christmas movies. There’s a ton of them out there and here are my favorite ten:

10. How The Grinch Stole Christmas. Not even sure if number ten, but I seem to end up watching it, at least parts of it. Don’t we all have a little Grinch in us???

9. Polar Express. Deb and I saw this move with the family on the I-Max screen when it first came out. It was a fun time. Brings back great memories.

8. 3 Godfathers. Classic John Wayne movie with a Christmas twist. Heck, bet you haven’t even seen it. True John Wayne fans have.

7. Elf. Actually hate this move, but Will Farrell does do a great job. And a hearty laugh or two also.

6. Four Christmases. Dorky movie, dorky story line…..BUT I LOVE IT. When I watch it, I think, it could actually happen to you, couldn’t it?

5. Miracle on 34th Street. Now we’re getting serious. Not a huge fan of this movie, but it’s a classic and a “must-see,” but only the original. Only the original!!

4. A Christmas Carol. Gulp! Forget the original. I love the one with George C. Scott as Mr. Scrooge. He is great. Original is good too. Heck, they’re all good. What a story line!!

3. Joyeux Noel. True story about a Christmas Eve “unofficial” truce set in World War 1, between the Scottish, British and German armies. Great movie!!

2. It’s A Wonderful Life. I’m a huge fan of Jimmy Stewart. And this is one of his best. Mine too.

1. Silent Night. Great movie about a widow lady and her young son trying to survive on Christmas Eve as two band of soldiers, one German, one American, spend the night in her home towards the end of World War ll.

There you have it. My favorite Christmas movies. What are yours??? Let me know at jsheda@indytel.com or call me at 319.327.4640. Have a great week.
