Thanksgiving, 2016
John Sheda
Do you remember that Mary Poppins song, “These are a few of my favorite things…..?” Well, in the same vein of thought, (but without Julie Andrews or me singing), here are a few of my thankful things:
I’m thankful…..
My gosh, Deb and I just recently celebrated our 42nd Wedding Anniversary. So thankful I still have her fooled!!! She loves me, she really loves me!!
For toilet paper. Come on, think about this one!!!
That I’m not into those “black Friday” sales. Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaa.
For Facebook ‘cuz I just love all of those pictures showing what you’re having for supper. My day wouldn’t be complete without that!!
That every once in a while, someone asks ME for directions and I actually know how to tell them correctly.
For that first cup of Maxwell House coffee in the morning. Talk about heaven. Mmmm, mmmm good to the last drop.
That GPS was discovered. Do you remember those old maps? Now, just like the starship Enterprise, just plug in the coordinates.
A wife that loves, (ok, that’s too strong a word), sports. Ok, not most sports, but she does like the Yankees. Haruumph, that’s good enough for me.
That I have lived in a smallish town my whole life and that Chelsea was where I learned the facts of life. Don’t ask!!
Remember a good joke and actually being able to tell it perfectly. And getting that hearty laugh.
That I grew up in the best era of life–the sixties!! Couldn’t ask for anything more. Hippies, bell-bottoms, paisley shirts with those long collars, Peter, Paul & Mary, Moody Blues, and the beat goes on…
For caller ID. Come on, you know why!!!!
Mosquito repellant that actually works.
That it gets nice and dark at 5pm. No chance in the world that I’m thankful for this. I want daylight savings time back……………….PLEASE!!
And finally, I’m extremely thankful that I’m NOT A TURKEY!!
Ok, one more “and finally.” I’m thankful that someone, (you know who you are), actually reads my column, (besides Deb and me).
Actually I’m blest and thankful for a great family, beautiful wife, three great daughters, two fantastic sons-in-law, two most beautiful granddaughters and my wonderful two brothers and the best sister in the world and all of their families. I truly am a blest man.
That’s The Way I See It. So, what are you thankful for?
