John’s Graduation Advice

John Sheda

This year I have two wonderful nieces graduating from High School, The following advice is for Cassidy and Desiree Sheda and anyone else that cares to heed the expert thoughts on “YOURS TRULY.” Like David Letterman’s Top Ten list, we begin we begin with #10:

10. Try your best to learn from other’s mistakes. No one has enough time to make them all ourselves.

9. Keep a “life journal.” Your grandchildren will greatly enjoy reading all the things you did over the year. Ah, be careful about writing everything though!!

8. Don’t let failure define who you are. Get back up and try again and again and again. Never give up!!

7. Be positive. Talk, live, act and believe in the positive. Resist negativity and stay away from negative people. They will drain the life out of you.

6. Give people the benefit of the doubt….especially those you love. Everyone has a bad day. Let it go, smile and move on.

5. Learn to be a generous person in every area of your life. But not to the point where you resent it. Generosity is not having people walk all over you.

4. Don’t play the blame game. Take responsibility for your life and your choices. You win, you lose. It’s not always the umpire’s fault.

3. Here’s a special on! Find the time on your bucket list to go on a Mission Trip. It will absolutely change your life. I’ve got ideas if you need any!!!

2. Be kind–ALWAYS!! One of the very best investments in life you can make, except for #1.

1. CHOOSE RIGHT NOW TO BE THE VERY BEST PERSON YOU CAN BE AND TO SERVE GOD. No way you can lose with this one.

Best of luck to you two and to all the graduates at South Tama and surrounding schools. Here is one last thought; “Enjoy the little things in life, because eventually they one day will become the big things.” THATS THE WAY I SEE IT.
