I recall my college statistics professor telling the class that you can prove anything with statistics, meaning also that statistics can lie! For years, we have been told that people only use 10% of their brain. While this may be true about your boss, certain neighbors, and congress, think this one through. If 10% is actually true, then neurosurgeons could remove or disable 90% of our brains with no effect. Alarmingly, a recent survey revealed that up to 59% of teachers from around the world believe we only use 10% of our brain. I guess they should know! A popular myth-debunking organization estimates that we use 35% of our brains while others claim we use our entire brains. Sophisticated medical technology claims we use much more than 10%; however, no one wants to put a number on it.

My high school physics teacher told our class that a bunch of monkeys could score better on his multiple “guess” tests than we were scoring. He wasn’t a popular teacher, but the class average was hovering around 10-15%. I think he thought we were as brainless as a screen door on a submarine.
