All right, fine I’ll admit it. I covered the Winding Stair Festival Parade. In my time as a reporter, I’ve taken my commitment to our two towns that start with the letter T, Tama and Toledo, very seriously. I’m not sure I have what it takes to add a third T in the mix. I’m sorry Traer, and I’m more sorry Tama-Toledo.

OK, all humor and sarcasm aside–I do find it interesting that the three largest towns in the county all start with the letter T. Might I be onto a great conspiracy centuries in the making? Should I perhaps find a great investigative journalist to dive deep into the questions that really matter in this county? I’ve always heard that a great reporter has the innate ability to call on someone else to answer the question that they think of for that reason I will forward all emails to Michael D. Davis.

While, I was standing on the streets of Traer, I really did wonder if certain community members feel the same roles as people that I would associate in our community. Now, of course, people have the same careers in different places, but what the individuals filling those roles mean in the broader context of small town Iowa is fascinating to me.

I had that exact same thought as I was standing in the Republican convention to pick the treasurer candidate. I know a full well that each nominated candidate meant something different to the delegates and that is normal and he lay.ell, the phrase “know your role” might sound a bit like an insult. I think it’s good to keep in mind.

Well, I was standing on the streets of a different town. I knew that my role was to simply take pictures and look good while doing it.
