Former Tama County Jail employee being investigated for sexual misconduct

A spokesperson with the Iowa Attorney General’s Office confirmed earlier this week that the state attorney general is reviewing a sexual misconduct investigation into the Tama County Jail.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) launched an investigation in late January into a sexual misconduct complaint against a former county employee that allegedly interacted with a jail inmate in an inappropriate manner.

The investigation was recently completed and handed off to the Iowa Attorney General’s Office. It will be up to the attorney general to decide whether or not to press charges in the case.

As of Wednesday, no charges have been made surrounding the incident. Due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, neither the attorney general’s office nor the sheriff’s office were able to provide details of the former employee in question or what exactly is alleged to have transpired between the employee and the inmate.

This is a developing story and more details will be reported as they are available.
