Toledo Public Library News

It is time to say farewell to September, 2018 and welcome in the beautiful month of October. The library will be a busy place with many events taking place. We hope you come visit your library to take part in one or more of these fall events.

To honor our local Veterans, the library will be displaying photos in the display cases during October and November. If you have a photo/photos of your loved one that you would like to add to the display, call and talk to Jenny at 484-3362 or bring them into the library. The photos will be in a safe and locked case.

The library will host Our Neighbors, The Amish on Thursday, October 11th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. This event is presented by Don and Dianne Kramer from Dyersville. Free admission and authentic Amish treats will be served. Space is limited, so call to get on the reserve list. You won’t want to miss this interesting and fun event.

The new Card Making program will be held Friday, October 12th at 1:00. Come get crafty and create a card or two to send to a loved one. This program runs from 1:00 2:30 and is a drop in program.

Design Time is a new program for kids grades 2nd through 7th and is held each Monday after school till 4:30 p.m. In this program, kids will have the opportunity to create, design, experiment and build.

Due to computer networking upgrades, the library will be closed Tuesday, Oct. 16, from 10 a.m.- 3 p.m. and will open from 3 – 6 p.m.

Join us for Story Time on Wednesday, Oct. 17 at 10:30 a.m. Theme is “Colors of Fall”.

The annual Book Sale will be going through October. Many items are still waiting for a good home. Fill a bag for $2 and fill your shelves for the winter months ahead.

Ozobots!! Stacie Steveson from Iowa Public Television will teach kids how to code with Ozobots. These little miniature robots can read code that kids create. This is a regular Art Lab session, and kids grades 1st through 5th are welcome to attend from 2:45 3:45.

Brian Gumm, owner of Ross Street Roasting will be providing a program on Thursday, Nov. 1, at 7 p.m. Join us for this interesting event.

The Election Day Soup Lunch will take place Tuesday, Nov. 6, from 11 a.m. – to 1 p.m. at the Toledo Public Library. Last year was our first luncheon and many delicious soups and bars were served. This year we hope to surpass it by serving more people and giving community members a chance to gather during Election Day. Soups, breads, crackers and desserts will be available. Free will donation.

New Who Is juvenile biographies are on the shelves and have been purchased through funding from our local Lion’s Club.

Remember we are your local destination for using Ancestry, sending a FAX, making copies and scanning documents.
