Major fire at USS Polaris in Toledo

Friday- June 20- Firefighters continue to battle a blaze at USS Polaris on the north side of Toledo on U.S. Highway 63 (North County Road). Toledo firefighters are being assisted with mutual aid from Tama, Montour, Garwin and Traer fire departments. The fire was first reported shortly before 7 a.m. today, Friday, June, 20, by a passerby who reportedly saw black smoke coming from the rear of the building complex.Upah Income Tax & Bookkeeping service is also housed in the office area of the building. USS Polaris employees, firefighters and volunteers helped moved some of the many off road vehicles and other equipment away from the structure. U.S. Highway 63 is closed on Toledo’s north side because fire hose from a hydrant two blocks away is being used. Some equipment including a pickup truck were driven out of the structure. Many of hte off-road vehicles in stock are parked outside of the building and were away from the building itself.

No immediate cause of the fire was available.
