Wolfe Eye Clinic announces indefinite closure of Toledo location

NEWS CHRONICLE PHOTO BY MICHAEL D. DAVIS — Wolfe Eye Clinic CEO Eric Lothe recently announced the indefinite closure of the Toledo family vision center at 1302 S. Broadway St.

Citing an inability to find a replacement for Dr. Sarah Patin after her departure last fall, Wolfe Eye Clinic CEO Eric Lothe announced the indefinite closure of the Toledo location at 1302 S. Broadway St. in a recent letter to patients.

“Following (Patin’s) announcement, we immediately began efforts to recruit a new eye doctor for our clinic in Toledo. Regrettably, we have not been able to identify a candidate these many months, and therefore we need to inform you that the Wolfe Family Vision Center in Toledo is closing indefinitely,” Lothe wrote. “We’d like to thank you for the trust you’ve placed in us over the years for your eye care needs. Taking care of you and your continuing health and wellness are our top priorities.”

The letter invites patients to continue receiving care at other clinics in the area including Marshalltown, Grundy Center, Cedar Falls and Waterloo or, if a patient transfers to another provider, to share medical records with said provider. Wolfe Clinic was founded in Marshalltown in 1919 and now has offices and family vision centers across the state.

A representative from Wolfe declined further comment.
