South Tama County Community School District staff gathered on Thursday, May 28, for the district’s annual End-of-Year Recognition and Retirement Celebration at South Tama County High School.
The event marked the conclusion of the 2025-26 school year and recognized employees for years of service to the district. Staff members reaching five, 10, 15, 20, 25, and 35 years of service were honored during the ceremony. In addition, Katelyn Gettle was recognized for earning her master’s degree during the school year.
The ceremony also recognized five employees entering retirement. Honored were Michelle Bradley, who taught at South Tama for 27 years, and Mike Carnahan, who taught in the district for 27 years. Also recognized were John Purk, Jerry Vaske, and Bob Earles.
Family members, friends, and fellow employees attended the event as retirees were recognized for their years of service and contributions to the district.
Following the presentation of service awards, advanced degree recognition, retiree tributes, and other employee recognitions, the celebration concluded as staff wrapped up the final contract day of the school year and began summer break.
