South Tama Trojans celebrate Senior Night

South Tama (5-19) hosted Williamsburg (8-13) for a WaMaC West conference contest on Tuesday, September 24.
The Trojans celebrated Senior Night prior to the start of play. Seniors recognized included Destinie Johnson, Maisie Lacina, Katie Riha, Clarissa Rosenberger, Jaydee Thiessen and Lorena Neiderhauser.
Williamsburg jumped out to an early lead 4-0 in the first set. The Trojans were able to cut the Raiders lead and even take the lead with Morgan Woosley serving. They got ahead 9-6 but the Raiders took back the lead and maintained a 6-7 point advantage until they won 25-18.
The score was kept close until the Raiders hit double digits in the second set. Williamsburg’s Erin Francis served five points giving Williamsburg a 19-14 advantage. The final score in the second set had Williamsburg winning 25-16.
Set three was do or die time for the Trojans. It wasn’t until Williamsburg’s Peyton Driscoll took to the serve line that the Raiders really took control. Driscoll served for four points which put the Raiders up 23-20. The Trojans really battled but ultimately fell 25-20.
On Saturday STC hosted their home tournament. They recorded wins over Grinnell, BGM and East Marshall. The Trojans were on the road to Independence on Tuesday evening. The will wrap up regular season conference play on Tuesday, Oct. 8 in Vinton.
