Members of the STC girls track team returned to the blue oval for the Drake Relays on Saturday, April 27.
The quartet of Caitlyn Stochl, Ashton Graham, Stacey Slaven and Jojo Tyynismaa have been running together all season and qualified for the relays. The morning of the race Graham had to be switched out with Shelby Slaven. Shelby is the younger sister of Stacey who runs the third leg of the relay.
Despite the last minute change the relay team managed a fourth place finish in their heat and took 42nd place overall with a time of 51.74.
Tyynismaa who is a freshman for the Trojans also competed on Friday, April 26 in the 100m Hurdles placing 18th overall.
“Handoffs were something we were a little iffy on since we weren’t able to practice, but I definitely think we did good on those today,” she said.
