The South Tama Trojans earned their first win following two losses to open the season. The Trojans hosted cross conference opponent Central DeWitt from the WaMaC East on April 2 and then non-conference opponent Grinnell on April 4.

STC fell to Central DeWitt 1-0 after a late hand ball violation call on the Trojans that resulted in a successful penalty kick for the Sabres. They then faced Grinnell two days later, falling 3-1. The Trojans lone goal came from Olivia Terrones in the second half. Grinnell scored once at 20:25 and again before the end of the first half at 38:41. They capped their goals at three after scoring once in the second half. Terrones grabbed her second goal of the season with 3:29 remaining.

The Trojans travelled to Solon the night following their loss to Grinnell. For the second year in a row, Terrones who is a junior at East Marshall broke a 0-0 tie late with a strike from distance to defeat Solon on their home field.

Coach Noah Schmelzer said the Trojans were once again short-handed due to a combination of illness, injury, and the school play but replacement players stepped up and gutted out the second game of a back-to-back, and the third contest in four days.

Final Score

STC 1, Solon 0

The Trojans will be on the road to Independence to take on the Mustangs on Thursday evening.
