The STC Volleyball Club had over 70 players this year ranging from 4th grade through 11th grade. Each team was coached by volunteers consisting of teachers, STC alumni or parents/grandparents. The girls practiced 2-3 times per week and competed in tournaments throughout January, February and March. The club hosted three tournaments during the winter for each grade level. The other qualifying weekends the teams traveled to area schools some as far away as New Hampton.

The club wrapped up another great season by sending every eligible grade level to the AAU Gold/State tournament in March. In order to qualify for State each team had to finish first or second in a qualifying tournament. The 8th grade STC Lightning team had a major achievement going undefeated and winning every tournament they entered prior to the State tournament (record 31-0). The club is directed by Amy Dolash and Kym Stein. A big thank you goes out to all of the coaches, players, parents and fans for your support and continuing to grow the volleyball program at South Tama.
