Tyynismaa earns All-American

BOSTON, Mass. The No. 21 Wartburg College women’s indoor track and field team tied for 27th at the NCAA Championships with nine points on Saturday.
Sophomore Cassidy Christopher (Cedar Falls) placed sixth in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 9:50.70, earning her first All-American honors. Junior Anna Rehberg (Omaha, Neb.) also earned her first All-American honors by finishing eighth in the shot put with a best throw of 13.59m. Lastly, the 4×400-meter relay team consisting of Belle Tyynismaa, Carson McSorley, Lily Campbell and Jackie Ganshirt, took fifth with a time of 3:51.88, earning the crew All-American honors.
Tyynismaa is a STC graduate of the Class of 2016. Tyynismaa was a multi-year State qualifier in track and field as well as a Drake Qualifier. She is the STC record holder in the 400 M Run. She was also a Cross Country State Qualifier her Senior year. She is the daughter of Robert and Penny Tyynismaa from Tama.
