STC Trojans tame Mustangs, 33-25

With winter break over and the real work beginning, we are starting to see where the chips will fall come State time.

South Tama travelled to Independence on Thursday, January 5 for a head-to-head dual against the Mustangs where they defeated the Mustangs 33-25.

The night started at weight 170 with Tanner Walz (STC) defeating Cole Davis (dec. 6-2).

At 182 Dalton Rosenburg (STC) had a close match with Peyton Nolting. Rosenburg came out the victor with a 6-5 win.

At 195 Indee’s Hunter Crawford won by fall (:57) over STC’s Cael Kellogg.

At 220 Marion Moncada (STC) defeated Joe Kaiser (dec. 8-7).

At 285 South Tama’s Kyle Kucera returned to the lineup after a lingering injury during the football season kept him out of the lineup in December. It was a close match but it went to Indee’s Drew Evans by decision (3-1).

At 106 Brock Eldridge took a forfeit for the Mustangs.

Weight 113 was a double forfeit.

At 120 Brady Webb (Independence) received a forfeit.

At 126 Brady Fritz (STC) pinned Mark Morkel (1:08).

At 132 Tanner Probasco (STC) defeated Christian Kremer (Fall 3:00).

At 138 STC’s Colton Vest defeated Tanner Erickson-Dale (dec. 10-3).

STC’s Pedro Rodriguez dropped from 160 to 145. He finished an exciting match with a crucial win for the Trojans. Rodriguez and Indee’s Sam Graeser went into a double overtime with Rodriguez winning (TB-1 5-2).

At 152 Isaac Judge (STC) made quick work with a pin over Joe Priebe (Fall :34).

At 160 Josh Thiessen made his first appearance in the varsity lineup this season falling to Indee’s Seth House (MD 15-7).
