Tama Co. Supervisors April 15 meeting

TOLEDO – Last Monday at 9 a.m. at the Tama County Administration Building in the supervisors’ chambers, the week started for many like it always did – sitting in a room waiting for the weekly board meeting to start. A few more than usual showed up this time, for when the clock hit 9:45 a.m., it was time for annual Years of Service Awards.

From the Roads Department to Public Health, 18 county employees were honored. Not all 18 employees showed up to the meeting, but those who did were presented with a certificate from Chairman Curt Hilmer.

Employees with five years of service include Samantha Warnell, Jailer; Brandon Boldt, Sheriff’s Office; LeeAnna Kriegel, Public Health; Shannon Zoffka, Public Health; and Wesley Ray, Assessor.

Employees with 10 years of service include Todd Sawyer, Secondary Roads; Darla Thiessen, Landfill; and Shane White, Secondary Roads.

Employees with 15 years of service include Tracy Hathaway and Gayle Walker, both of Public Health.

Employees with 20 years of service include Maureen Kratoska, Auditor’s Office; Linda Beltz, Jailer; and Jolynn Harger, Public Health.

Employees with 25 years of service include Stacy Skala and William Suchanek of Secondary Roads; and Dirk Henle, Maintenance.

Employees with 40 years of service were Sheriff Dennis Kucera and Lori Dixon Johnson, Public Health.

Other business

The meeting began like usual with County Engineer Ben Daleske giving his report and noting that he thought winter was finally over. He also reported that he thought rain was on the way for the week and that a concrete approach had been poured at the shop.

Manatt’s is expected to start work and close a part of Highway 63 on May 6. Daleske talked about some of the things that they have for sale on Govdeals and finally got a utility permit for E Avenue.

A New Century FS anhydrous ammonia facility site was officially approved.

County HR Manager Tammy Wise got the 911, Sheriff, and Road Department union contracts approved.

Both the Auditor’s Quarterly Report and the Recorder’s Quarterly Report were approved.

Also approved was a transfer of approximately $400,000 from one fund to the other for the county shed with insurance money received after the derecho.

Claims totaling $122,783.64 were approved.
