Trojan tennis takes down Knights

The South Tama tennis season is well underway, and as their impressive year has continued, the Trojan athletes have been improving more and more. On Monday, STC was able to show off this improvement well at home against the Union Knights.

In the position 1 singles match, senior Kaden Timm faced off against Union’s Daniel Gray. Timm once again was able to use his consistent serves and aggressive net play to his advantage as he took the convincing 8-3 victory over Gray. Senior Braydon Thompson competed in the position 2 singles match against Adam Brehm of Union. Thompson similarly was able to outmatch Brehm with his serves to grab an 8-6 win for the Trojans. South Tama was also able to get wins in the position 3 singles match as sophomore Tanner Large took a 8-4 victory, and in the position 6 match sophomore Hunter DeFoe won 8-1.

South Tama also found success in the doubles matches. Timm and Thompson came together in the position 1 doubles match to take the 8-3 victory over Gray and Medina of Union. Timm’s serves and Thompson’s excellent net play carried the duo to yet another doubles win on the season.

Finally, in the position 3 doubles match the Trojan duo of Houghton and DeFoe took the 8-4 win over Union’s Reed and Hemsath. When the meet was all said and done South Tama left on top with an impressive 6-3 victory over Union Trojan tennis was back in action again on April 25 at home against conference rival the Grinnell Tigers.
