The South Tama Trojans hosted a duals meet on Saturday, December 12. Schools in attendance were Independence, Wahlert, Nevada and Vinton.

Independence won the day defeating STC 46-27, Nevada 82-0, Vinton 51-27 and Wahlert 51-26. South Tama topped Nevada 52-15 and Vinton 55-23. Wahlert beat the Trojans 36-34.

Some of the high profile matches came during the STC and Independence matchup. The Predicament features several Independence wrestlers in their most recent rankings including Drew Davis (138), Jake Juhl (160), Nick Holt (170), and Matt McMillan (195).

South Tama’s Bailey Chyma who is ranked 7th came up against 5th ranked Nick Holt at 170. Chyma and Holt went into overtime and Chyma came away with the 4-2 win. At 160, STC sophomore Isaac Judge (unranked) got an upset victory against Independence senior Jake Juhl in a 3-1 decision.

The Trojans will be on the road to Pella on Saturday for the Bill Van Horn Invitational. The tournament will feature 17 wrestlers currently ranked by The Predicament along with the Albia Blue Devils team who are currently ranked number one in Class 2A.
