What’s Happening at the Wieting?

This week I’m going to say “Thanks” to all the past, present and future guild members and or workers who have helped keep the Wieting doors open.

I heard about a former entertainer who helped us keep the Wieting going. She was a great entertainer during our shows. Her name was Waneta Mae Thede Litwiler of Toledo. We knew her as “Mae Litwiler.” She passed away a few days ago. Thanks “Mae”.

Another person who was a guild member and helped in any way she could was Kathy Breja. At this time of year I remember the incident that happened to her. Some of us guild members were at the Trojan Inn waiting for Kathy to show up so we could help Mary Ann Gardner celebrate her birthday. The day was October 11. We waited and waited. Kathy had had a brain aneurysm and died in her sleep.

We have lost a lot of guild members and workers for the Wieting. The list would be too long to run but I want to say “Thank you” for your support to help keep “Ella’s” dream alive. Keep the Wieting doors open!

We just buried my last brother this past weekend. Mrs. Sichra hired my brother to run the projector at the theatre starting his freshman year through his senior year. That was in the days when the movie ran seven days a week. The Dixon kids have been a part of the Wieting for a long, long time.

Thanks George-love ya baby!
