Questions Toledo stoplight decision
Letter to the Editor
Why redo the stoplight base?
Toledo has a Historical stoplight that was electronically updated about 2 years ago. This also called for a new base, as the old one was in need of repair. Someone decided to donate the time and material to build this new base. With the cost of this project, it was a very nice gesture to do this for “FREE”. Now the Toledo council has decided to tear it down and start over. WHY?
What on earth has caused them to make this decision? It seems to be the gossip in our county that it is not perfect enough. The base looks to be a “shmidge” off center from each direction. SO WHAT? BIG DEAL! No one has been injured or killed because of this. The stoplight is still fully functional. This base was given to us for FREE, no charge, DONATED, a gift per-say. Now we are going to pay someone to tear it down, haul the cement chunks away, reform it more perfectly might I add, pour fresh cement, wait for it to dry, then paint it that wild red color once again, at the total cost to the citizens. I just hope it doesn’t get off kilter again.
Is our community or council so ungrateful as to toss this GIFT away to be able to spend money unneccesarily?
Could this money be spent on a much worthier project like maybe the new sewer plant or City sheds. Or free classes for adults to learn English better for for free. Maybe help others learn how to handle personal finances in these trying times.
Someone must have too much time on thier hands to go around and nick pick on unimportant issues that aren’t an issue at all.
Why not be concerned with the cerfew that is at midnight or riding of bicycles on the sidewalks or dogs poooping on the court yard grounds..
Please leave the light as it is, is all I am asking.
