Letter to the Editor: Vote yes for 3 on Nov. 3

I want to address some misinformation that Heather Knebel put in her Oct. 9th column about representation.

With three county supervisors, I represented Toledo, Garwin, Gladbrook and Lincoln with Lincoln being 20 miles from me. With the five-member board, Curt Hilmer has Lincoln at 25 miles and Curt Kupka has Montour at 20 miles but his district goes five miles north of Montour. So with that said, it looks like three supervisors is better, if Knebel is talking about local meaning board members living in the town. There is only one out of the five that are local and the three-member board had members living the closest to the towns – unless my math is wrong and 25 miles is closer than 20 miles. She will try to make citizens believe anything to get her way.

I also want to let the voters know, on Aug. 19, 2025, Mark Doland wanted to meet with me. We talked about a lot of county things but at the end, Mark said something that took me by surprise. His remark was Bill, Tama County really doesn’t need five supervisors. Now I know he is going to deny ever saying that, but it is the truth. You can believe me or not, that is your choice. I know the group that got us to a five-member board will never believe it, but that is TCAT, ask them, they know best.

VOTE YES FOR 3 SUPERVISORS ON NOV. 3.

Bill Faircloth, Toledo
