Chickens don’t fly, but dogs s***
This week’s Toledo City Council meeting
This week’s headline was directly taken from Toledo Council member Joe Boll. Boll suggested the headline as it brought together two of the topics they discussed at this week’s meeting. The chickens were a reference to Eunice Avalos, who requested to have chickens and goats on her property. The request was denied by the council.
As for the dogs, the council discussed the policy regarding dogs on leashes at the park and citizens following the ordinance to pick up after their pets. This hit home for Mr. Boll, as he recently lost a brand new sandal to the unpicked up leavings of k9. It was decided that if anyone saw someone not picking up after their dog to notify dispatch.
The council approved the contract for Reinig Manager/ Janitor, hiring Micaela Suchanek.
There was a discussion about what a policy regarding reserving the Toledo Bandstand would look like. It was approved for a committee to come up with a draft of a policy.
Broadway and State streets were approved to be closed on July 10 for the Stoplight Festival.
The public works department reported that mowing is under control, and street patching should start next week. The pool is open, and the roundabout construction continues.
The City Attorney gave some updates regarding nuisance properties.
Toledo Police Chief Dan Quigley reported that between May 11 and 25, the department responded to 178 calls to service and made 3 arrests. They were offered an ’80s Humvee from another department, but declined.
