A forecast for rain Friday evening did not dampen the spirit of rodeo weekend at the Dostal Ranch. The 49th Annual Double D Rodeo benefitting Easter Seals of Iowa kicked off with a decent crowd and plenty of action.

Dedicated cowboys, cowgirls and rodeo fans filled the arena and stands Saturday for another fun night of rodeo. Mutton Bustin, Chuck A Duck, Sheep Scramble, Ladies Only Goat Race, pony rides, face painting, plenty of vendors, and dancing to the Wild Card were enjoyed by spectators. Miss Rodeo Iowa, Grace Collins reigned over the weekend. Sherri Nielsen ,President and CEO of Easter Seals Iowa was Friday evening’s Grand Marshall and Krable Mentzer, Chief Marketing Officer of Easter Seals Iowa served as Saturday’s Grand Marshall. Easter Seals of Iowa is celebrating their 100th Anniversary this year. A moment of silence and prayer in honor of Dennis Dostal, creator and namesake of Double D Rodeo gave tribute to a beloved cowboy with a heart of gold. His legacy lives on. “Though the world feels a bit dimmer without Dennis, heaven shines a little brighter.”
