Three motions in a pod

This week’s Tama County Supervisors meeting

The Tama County Administration Building at 104 W State St. in Toledo will be closed to public until further notice.

This week’s Tama County Supervisors meeting was rather swift and to the point. The meeting started with Tama County Engineer Ben Daleske, saying that they have been “out and about,” dealing with the snow. They are preparing for more of the winter by stocking and mixing salt and sand. The supervisors approved a utility permit for Grundy County REC and two purchase agreements dealing with the E44 bridge replacement.

The supervisors discussed action on sending a letter/bill to a Union Grove Lake property owner for yard cleanup charges. Supervisor David Turner ultimately made three successful motions in regards to this item. First, the supervisors approved for this issue to be postponed till next allowing time for the contract to be drawn up and for the bill to be itemized. Second, they approved, in the future, getting bids for property clean up in the county. Thirdly, they approved having Chris Behrens, the Tama County Sanitarian, get back to the supervisors next week with the plans he is working on and a copy of the request to the auditor for the payment.

Laura Wilson, the Zoning and Weed Commissioner, talked to the supervisors about a possible budget amendment, but the supervisors want to wait until April/May when the other budget amendments are talked about to bring it back up. Claims totaling $78,762.30 were approved.
