In a gesture to Tama City Council member Emily Babinat at her last meeting, Babinat was made to make the first motion on every agenda item. Although Babinat voted nay to one motion she herself made, just for fun, that motion passed anyway.

This started after the council heard the annual end-of-year report from the Oak Hill Cemetery Association.

The first agenda item that Babinat made a motion on was the approval of the Piper Sandler engagement letter.

Up next, the council approved a resolution authorizing and approving a large loan agreement that will be used to pay for multiple projects. This will be with the State Bank of Toledo.

The council also approved a resolution for a money transfer.

The third pay application for the new generator at the Waste Water plant was approved with the project nearing an end in January.

The council approved an approximate $15,000 teardown of the office building at the old paper mill.

Tama Police Officer Neil Cooley found another position and was approved to leave his full-time position with Tama, but remain as part-time. Cooley was also approved to buy his handgun from the department. The council subsequently approved advertising to hire a full-time officer.

The council finally approved the purchase of a truck with a utility box for the sewer department. This will cause some truck dominoes, as the current sewer truck will go to another department, and that department’s truck will be moved to another, and so on.

At the end of the regular meeting, council member Kristy Eisentrager took her oath of office before newly elected Chris Smith took his. Outgoing council member Emily Babinat was then presented with a certificate of appreciation.
