Moving snow

This week’s Toledo City Council meeting

This week’s Toledo City Council meeting started with the official approval of the 28E agreement with the county for the Toledo Bandstand. With that, the council moved on to the second agenda item. The council approved releasing three old liens, and just as swiftly moved on to agenda item three.

Moving with ease through the agenda, the council rounded the corner and approved making Mayor Brian Sokol the primary representative on the Tama County Emergency Management Board. Councilman Joe Boll was made the alternate.

Moving just as quick, the council made Kendall Jordan the primary representative for the 911 Communication board, and again, Boll the alternate.

The public works department reported that they are pushing the snow back as far as they can in preparation for more. They’ve hauled approximately 230 loads of snow from downtown.

Toledo Police Chief Dan Quigley reported that between Nov. 24 and Dec. 7, they responded to 118 calls for service, affected two arrests, and executed a single search warrant. The Chief thanked Jordan and Jessie Brown for allowing a couple of officers who live out of town to bunk at the fire department during the inclement weather.

Toledo Economic Development Director Katherine Ollendieck reported having a lot of balls in the air with different projects. The Clerk reported working on multiple things, as well as the budget.
