Tama County U.S. 63 closure schedule update
The tentative start date to begin breaking up the existing pavement is Aug. 10. Once that begins, the pavement will have exposed metal rebar and will not be drivable.
The contractor will then prep the surface, and asphalt paving will begin. This will take until mid to late October. At some point during the paving process, the contractor will need to leave for a week or two to complete work on another project — you may notice a pause in work at this time.
“We realize that school is starting soon and harvest time is right around the corner, so we have let the contractor know that they should work with property owners and residents to ensure they have access to their properties during this next phase of construction,” the Iowa DOT wrote in a Facebook post.
