Tama Council hears request for upcoming Haunted Mill event

This week’s Tama City Council meeting started with approving some street closures for the Tama Pump.

The council then talked with Kelly Purk regarding the party trailer and the use of the trailer’s tables and chairs for the Haunted Mill event. The council voted no on letting Purk use the tables and waiving the rental fee for now, and the subject might be brought up again at a later council meeting. The council then heard updates on how the Haunted Mill project is proceeding.

The council approved a contract with Snyder for the water plant project.

There was much discussion about the annual water bill write-offs for those who they can no longer find, but the council ultimately approved them.

The council approved updating the fire department chief’s computer, as it is out of date. The old computer will be used in another area.

The council approved Kellie Caroline to the Board of Adjustment.

The nuisance department reported slowing down on mowing and is currently working on abandoned vehicles before moving on to sidewalks.

When the public works director was asked how the water, sewer, and streets were doing, he summed up his report by simply saying, “All working good.” He did add later that they will start trimming trees soon.

The Fire Department reported getting ready for the homecoming parade and fixing trucks.

The Police Department reported 241 calls to service in the last month, and Officer Tyler Ayala-Pagan went to negotiation class.

Tama EMS Administrator Jimmy Hicklin strangely didn’t have anything to report.
