With paint, tape, graphite, sweat, and spirit, thirteen young, gifted artists from South Tama High School brought their wondrous works of art to the 2025 WaMaC competition. The art, as diverse in subject matter as it was in its mediums, displayed a wide range of pieces.

Of the thirteen STC artists, three got silver in their separate categories. Junior Charlie McFatridge got second place in the mixed media 3D art category for her crafted box entitled “Pony Magic.” Junior Lee Randall-Bernal got second place in the digital art category for his piece entitled Peaceful Night.” Senior Emily Carnahan got second place in 3D sculpture for her mixed-media hammerhead shark.

Also showcased were acrylic paintings by freshman Amina Mekanovic, juniors Lilith Duncan and Madeline Paxton, and seniors Madison Wiese and Daniela Barrientos. Watercolors were done by junior Jesse Ordaz and senior Kristina Levechuk. Mixed-media art by junior Madeline Paxton and seniors Madison Wiese and Jennifer Manzo was shown. Senior Maddix Sanache had a piece of art in the 3D category. Drawings by junior Zane Flathers and senior Jennifer Manzo were on display. Senior Kristina Levechuk had an oil painting.

Thirteen aspiring local artists, filled to the brim with talent, had another great year at the WaMaC art show.
