Things to know from the STC school board meeting
Monday’s school board meeting was slower than recent meetings. Members Jackie Ellenbecker and Beth Wiese were both absent leaving just enough for a quorum.
Members of the high school chapter of the FFA addressed the board and shared happenings and upcoming events. All present thanked the students for their presentation and commitment to the district.
In an update on the landscaping fundraiser for the middle school, Superintendent Cain shared that all plants had been spoken for and money was being collected. In the coming weeks the plants are going to be stored at Norton’s Greenhouse, eventually being planted at the new middle school site on Wednesday, October 2.
Cain also updated that the district is still looking into a potential change of conference in spite of being rejected from the NICL earlier in the year.
A lack of special education teachers still plagues the district with each of the buildings in need of one or more teachers to fill positions.
A pad of concrete will be added by the concession stand in the stadium to house recently purchased picnic tables. Cain mentioned wanting to enhance the spectator experience at home events.
After more policy work and community updates the three board members adjourned the meeting, with the next being scheduled for September 23.
