The sun sat high in the sky like an egg yolk among the clouds, shining down on the polka-dotted yards of the Sunny Hill Care Center last Friday. Plastic eggs holding wondrous treats lay among the grass, just waiting to be plucked from the ground. Children, parents, and residents alike were gathered in the building before the events to participate in a coloring contest and hear the rules of the hunt. Among the hundreds of regular eggs, there were golden eggs to get, carrots to grab, and fun to be had.

Different age groups erupted out of different doors spreading across the grounds, laughing, screaming, and throwing eggs into their baskets. After several minutes, everyone was gathered back inside to empty the eggs and see their prizes. The visitors enjoyed snacks and refreshments as some last minute coloring was done to enter the contest.

After the snacks were demolished, Sunny Hill’s Activities Director Mary Jo Chervany with a microphone stood up at the front of the room gathering those lucky kids who found a carrot or a golden egg. Chervany along with the Easter Bunny himself, handed out selected prizes to the children. The smiles from the youngest to the oldest in attendance made it known that this was another successful year of the Sunny Hill Care Center’s Egg Hunt.
