Registrations are due by Jan. 3 for those interested in the Emergency Medical Technician/EMT career training program offered through Iowa Valley Continuing Education. The course meets Jan. 8 through July 4 (Wednesdays from 6 to 10 pm) at the Toledo Fire Station with instructor Greg Johnson.

The EMT training program is a hybrid class with required reading and online lab assignments to be completed from home, plus classtime lecture/discussion and hands-on training each Wednesday in Toledo. The training program includes 48+ hours of required clinical time. Tuition for the program is $1,299, which includes lab fees, a clinical shirt, and the NREMT practical exam.

To enroll, students must be 17 years of age prior to Jan. 8, and they must be able to read, write and speak in English. Students must also have completed the American Heart Association’s Healthcare Provider CPR class or its equivalent, provide proof of immunizations within two weeks of the class start time, and submit to a background check (additional cost of $24). There are books, testing and access code fees that are not included in the course fee.

The EMT training program is approved for GAP funding for those who qualify.

Registrations for the EMT program (course #2996) can be completed online at IowaValley.com. IVCE is closed for the winter break from Dec. 21 through Jan. 1; offices will re-open on Thursday, Jan. 2.
