Tama Lincoln Highway Bridge Festival underway today
Two days of fun-filled events with entertainment for everyone of all ages is once again in store for Tama’s 34th annual Lincoln Highway Bridge Festival today (Friday, May 18) and tomorrow (Saturday, May 19) according to event chair Sue Carnahan.
Everything from the revival of the street dance in front of the new “The Pump” on West 3rd Street to the 66th Tama Firemens Meriam Midway Carnival, Byron Witt’s line-up for the big parade and music at the fire station is on the bill.
There’s plenty of new features as well, so be sure to consult the complete schedule of events on Page 11 of today’s News-Herald.
There’s wine and cheese tasting at the Eagles?Club, and the South Tama Baseball Club is hosting an ice cream social at the Civic Center both starting at 5 p.m.
Tama 2018 Citizen of the Year Doug Ray (story at left) selected from nominations made to the Tama Firefighters Association will be honored at a recognition ceremony and reception at 7 p.m tonight at the Tama Fire Station at the Civic Center, 305 Siegel.
The ever-popular Tri-County?Community Band, South Tama Harding Street Singers, and Middle School and High School Jazz Bands will also be performing tonight starting at 6 p.m. at the Fire Station.
And there will be more music beginning at 6 p.m. in front of The Pump with the bands Hold for Swank and Monkeyfinger playing for the street dance.
On Saturday morning firefighters will be serving their popular pancake breakfast beginning at 7 p.m. with the 5K?Run starting at 8 a.m.
The Grand Parade is at 10 a.m. with more events throughout the morning and afternoon.
