O.W.L.S. series is set for 2018 at Otter Creek Lake

Logan Roberts

Older, Wiser, Livelier, Souls is a fun way to get out of the house, learn about nature, and enjoy the company of friends. Tama County Conservation will be hosting this series the 2nd Wednesday of each month at Otter Creek Lake & Park. An interesting lineup of O.W.L.S. speakers from all around Iowa will present on a variety of topics. Presentations will start at 11 a.m. and a light lunch will follow the program (around noon).

This series is designed for seniors but all adults are welcome. Free-will donations will be accepted to cover costs for lunch and guest speakers.

Don’t miss the first O.W.L.S. event of the year, on Jan. 10, focused on Owls of Iowa.

Join naturalist Logan Roberts to learn about Iowa’s mysterious nighttime birds and the fascinating adaptations that make them great hunters. We will learn how to identify Iowa’s owl species, owl calls, and learn about their winter behaviors and cold season mating/nesting. Stick around afterwards for some chili and cornbread!

Mark your calendars for the future O.W.L.S. events. More information on each presentation can be found at: www.goo.gl/aYNLZP
