It’s Stoplight Festival time tonight!

Music will again fill the Tama County Courthouse Square in downtown Toledo Friday night, July 8, for the 7th annual Toledo Stoplight Festival. The Toledo Farmers Market will also be in full swing with all kinds of great seasonal produce, baked goods, crafts and more.
Three groups will provide the musical entertainment, lots of activities for kids and food vendors are on the bill according to Stoplight Festival committee members Brian Sokol, Travis Mullen and Byron Witt. The evert is sponsored by the Tama-Toledo Area Chamber of Commerce.
Class reunion plans are also in the works for that night. An area is reserved in front of Bumblebee’s for the South Tama High classes of 1976, 81, 86, 91, 96 and 2011.
Malek’s Fishermen Band will kick things off at 5 p.m. Billed as one of the finest polka bands in the Midwest the group continues the great tradition of dance music excellence started by Syl Malek in the 1930’s with Malek Bros. Accordion Band.
At 6:15 p.m. Kat &?Hala are on the bandstand. They are a Chicago-based acoustic pop duo which is booked throughout the midwest.
Next up, at 7:30 p.m., The Inner Lite, a Marshalltown-based group will round out the evening. The group, composed of Chris Kaske, Martin Downs, drummer Larry Mersereau have joined up with Rick Goodman, Fred Koogler and Martin Downs to carry on The Inner Lite experience,
Kids
The gigantic “Bounce House and Slide,” Toledo Fire Department Water Fights and Wieting Theatre Dunk Tank will all be set up for the kids. And, New Life Evangelical Free Church wil have balloon animals, face painting and games.
Food
You won’t go hungry with the array of food avialable. There’s Chamber footlong hot dogs, Ward’s Indian Tacos, Christ united Methodist Church baked goods, Parkers BBQ, Boy Scouts concenssion and Kayella’s.
