CarFit Technician training to be offered in Toledo

TOLEDO CHRONICLE – CarFit is a safety program with the goal to keep older drivers safe on the roads. Designed to make older individuals aware of their vehicles and how it should fit them, CarFit events rely on trained volunteer CarFit Technicians to complete a 12-point checklist with each driver.

“CarFit Technicians perform a variety of tasks at each event,” stated Janet Buls, CarFit Coordinator with Hawkeye Valley Area Agency on Aging. “They help direct traffic, check-in registered participants, as well as complete the check-list and provide education to the drivers.”

CarFit Technicians are required to complete a half-day technician training hosted by a CarFit Event Coordinator. Hawkeye Valley Area Agency on Aging is hosting a CarFit Technician training on Wednesday, July 27 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Toledo Healthy Lifestyles Center located at 103 S. Church in Toledo. There is no cost to attend the technician training. Space is limited. Registration is required by calling Janet Buls at Hawkeye Valley Area Agency on Aging at 319-272-2224 by July 22.
